Interview with a Vampire

Year: 1994

Louis is a vampire who is being interviewed and who tells about his long life journey. The vampire's past is narrated in flash-back. In the story there is Lestat, the creature that helped Louis become a vampire. Lestat, unlike Louis, doesn't take much pity on being mean to humans. Together they live the life of vampires. There is also the young Cláudia in the story to share moments with the two. This movie from the 90's is based on the book by the writer Anne Rice.

Night shadows

Year: 2012
Film Genre: Comedy and Fantasy

The witch Angelique decided to turn young Barnabas Collins into a vampire after he broke her heart. As if that wasn't enough, she buried him. Now, 200 years later, he wakes up, emerges from the tomb and discovers a world completely different from the one he left, with few family members still alive. The film is based on the TV series Dark Shadows.

The Shadow of the Vampire

Year: 2000

A film that creatively portrays how the classic Nosferatu would have been produced. Arriving in Czechoslovakia to film it, FW Murnau decides to hire a real vampire to stage Nosferatu. The director and the vampire even have an agreement: he needs to control himself so that, in the end, he wins the neck of Greta Schroeder, the film's star, as a prize. Despite this, things will get out of hand with the vampire on the scene.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

Year: 1992

Based on the novel by Bram Stoker, founder of the vampire myth. This Dracula movie is considered one of the most faithful recreations of the vampire. In 1462, Vlad Drácula, a member of the Order of the Dragon, lost his wife, Elisabeta, who committed suicide after having her death falsely reported by enemies. For committing suicide, his soul is condemned to hell, which makes Dracula revolt, renounce God and decide to resurrect his wife. Thus, he starts to wander through the centuries in search of her reincarnation.

30 Days of Night

Year: 2007

Barrow, Alaska experiences complete darkness for 30 days. This year, something atypical decided to happen: a group of vampires took advantage of the following nights to attack the local residents. Now, the city's residents will have to find ways to defend themselves, with Sheriff Eben Oleson and ex-wife Stella as leaders in the defense.

Dracula: Dead but happy! (Dracula: Dead and Loving It)

Lawyer RM Renfield has arrived in Transylvania to meet Count Dracula and is hypnotized there. The vampire intends to go to London to find his eternal beloved and needs to face Dr. Van Helsing, who intends to stop him. This is a much more comedic version of Dracula, with the Count having several moments turned into comedy.

Based on the book of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

The Dance of the Vampires

Abronsius, a university professor, decides to travel to Transylvania, accompanied by Alfred, his fearful disciple, to study and capture vampires. Thirst of blood

Year: 2009

Sang-hyeon is a priest who was involved in a project to develop vaccines against a deadly virus. However, something went wrong and he, almost dying, receives a blood transfusion of unknown origin that makes him come back to life in another way: as a vampire. As he was a priest during his life, his faith causes him to enter into a conflict that divides him between wanting the blood and avoiding it. Also, along the way, the priest meets an old childhood friend, Tae-joo. The film is by South Korean director Chan-wook Park.

John Carpenter's Vampires

Jack Crow is a determined vampire hunter who is always prepared to find and exterminate them. Jack has a team that works with him on the hunt. Once, after suffering an attack and losing part of the team members, Jack discovers that the master vampire Valek is looking for the Cross of Berziers, which will allow vampires to walk during the day. So Jack and two other partners, Tony and Katrina, try to prevent Valek from getting to Cruz first. A vampire movie with hints of westerns.

From the director of Interview with the Vampire, Neil Jordan, Byzantium is a film about a mother and daughter who pretend to be sisters. They are "sucrientes", creatures that resemble vampires, but have differences, such as using thumb nails instead of fangs, being able to withstand daylight and having no special powers. This is a recent film that approaches the theme with originality.
